32 hours later

So I finally made it to Chile last night around 11PM. AHH what a long day I had yesterday!

Well I ended up having to buy a flight at 2 am yep 2 am. Basically I was not going to be able to get out on a Delta flight untill tuesday of the comming week. So my dad broke down and bought a flight. The first plane left at 5:45am to Washington DC where I had a 2 hour layover. From there I headed on a 5 hour flight to Panama City, Panama. I passed out on that flight because at that point I had already been up since 8:30 to previous morning and was EXHAUSTED. Once I arrived in Panama I had a brief layover and I was on to Chile. I got to Chile around 11 pm checked into my hotel grabed some food and went streight to bed.

I got up around 6:30 this morning to meet the rest of the group to head to ViƱa del Mar to meet our host family! I am staying with Mrs.Silvia she is super sweet and can not speak any english. Luckly my house mate Monica speaks fluent spanish so she will translate for me.

So far I am loving the city but not the weather right now its really cold and they dont have central heating so I have about 4 layer on!

Well I am off to bed so I can be up and ready to explore the city tomorrow!

Standing By

Standby passengers sometimes have bad luck flying out. two summers ago two friends were trying to get to Dallas Texas for a mission trip and they sat in the airport for 4 days before they got on. Its just the luck of the day and time that you want to fly.

Well I decided to take the chance and get to Chile standby and save about uhh 3 thousand dollars. Well all summer we have been watching the flights and they have been perfectly fine, even had to cancel some because there just wasn't enough people on them. Well Monday rolls around and bam a ton of people and i mean a ton all the sudden are on the flights from Wednesday on. So now the wait begins. I really want to get there by Saturday cause that's when the rest of the people in the program are arriving but at this point as long as im there by Tuesday next week I will be ok with it.

I am really not worrying about it why worry? (Matthew 6:35) there is absolutely nothing I can do about it so there for I am just going to go into this with no stress yet. If I have to buy a ticket I will just suck it up and spend the money!

So over the next few day please just pray that the flights clear up and I can get to Chile as soon as possible!

Rainy Days and Vacuum Lines

Yesterday was a rainy day here in Georgia so the kids and I did something I hadn't done in a really long time... we played in the rain.

at first they did not want to have anything to do with that idea. So i went on with out them and just as I thought they came not long after. We played out there for about 45 minutes until it started thundering. But while we were out there it was just pure laughter the entire time.

we ran around, splashed in puddles and had races in the "river" aka the run off water. I loved seeing the kids just running around and laughing with each other it was a fun little summer memory!

earlier today I saw Jake run off to the spare room and then I heard him banging around in there. So I went back there and saw him getting the vacuum out. He then told me he accidentally made a mess with his snack. So I helped him get the vacuum out and get it plugged in. He was pretty cute trying to vacuum the living room. I eventually took over and just did the entire living room. anyways the whole point of this was to say how much I love vacuum lines on the carpet. Like I really love them I would vacuum everyday if my carpet still did that!

Well I have one more day of work and only 2 more days until I am off to Chile. I am super excited to get there and discover the city!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{One}

Friday my wonderful friends came home from a mission trip in Brazil! I am glad they got back just in the nick of time before I head out Thursday. Brazil is a special place for us Its where we went on our first mission trip ever with New Life. It was such an eye opener trip for us. Seeing people with nothing giving everything to help others really opens your eyes.

{two}

Saturday I got to go to one of my best friends wedding shower. Kelsey and Zach got married back in December but just got around to having their shower, guess that the life of a military family. I really missed them these past two months. We all live down in Charleston together so we all spend a lot of time together. I really wish Shrimpf could have made it up!

{three}
Sunday all my family came over to my house for a early birthday/going away party. I really do not like parties at all. I just don't like being the center of attention. Other than that it was really nice to see everyone. I don't get to see my cousin Kayla and Kiera very often but I love spending time with them. Kiera couldn't make it last night but I got to see Kayla.

{four}
its my last few days of work this week its kind of bittersweet. I have been watching Jenna and jack for almost 6 years now. jake just turned one, Jenna 3 and I was only 15 when I started watching them. Its hard to believe that little miss prissy is going into fourth grade. Makes me feel old! But this will be my last summer with them because I will be living in Charleston full time starting in January

I have successfully packed 5 months worth of clothes into one suit case!!

On another not I am really going to try to blog daily in Chile and post pictures to keep all my family and friends updated on my adventure there. I know I have been trying to do that here and failed but hopefully I will have a little more motivation there!!

A Saturday Night at Home

As I write this I am sitting on my back porch with the tiki lights flickering, the frogs or what ever chirping in the background and have some brownies baking in the oven. Perfect night if I must say so myself!

This is my first Saturday home in what feels like forever. You see I am one of those persons who can't sit still I like to be going all the time. But I am also one who LOVES alone time at home. yes I am weird like that I love being by myself some think its weird but I think its necessary for me to stay sane.

So with that being said I am going to put a few of my favorite things to with my me time

1. read a book preferably a Karen Kingsbury novel

2. catch up on so tv time that I've missed

3.craft

4. sit on my back porch doing nothing!

5. go to the movies

thats not a lot of things but those are usually what I do when I have so me time!

2 weeks away

In two weeks I will be stepping on a plane leaving for the rest of the year! Its kind of weird when I think about it that way. But anyways I am starting to gather things up and sort through my clothes this week. Its been a really difficult task. First of all its their winter down there right now so it will be cold when I get there but around septemberish it starts spring. So I am having to pack my heavy coat and my swim suite, which I find really weird! I have just a few more things to buy and ill be good to go!

Im getting really excited as the days go by. I am supposed find out who im going to be living with there any day now. Its kind of nerve racking to an extent but im not worried about it just excited to meet the family and get to know them!

also this week I'v gotten to meet a few other international students through what do ya know Facebook. we have group for all the international students so that has been fun to see who all will be there with me!

I have lots to do and only 2 weeks so it should be fun running around with my head cut off like a chicken to try to get it all done!

Mission Impossible begins

Its starting to hit me that in 3 weeks I will be leaving for the rest of the year WEIRD! with that being said the packing has to starts now. There is now way that I can procrastinate for this trip. The thought of packing almost 5 months of stuff into two suite cases freaks me out. How am I ever going to get this done?

As of now I seriously don't this it is going to be possible to get it all put in two duffel bags. I'm sure I will have to do some weeding out as I go, which I wont be happy about. I am also going to invest in space bags to pack up in. I am getting there right at the end of their winter so I am going to need a variety of cloths while I'm there luckily its generally warmer there so I wont need a lot of winter cloths. But non the less I will need to pack a coats & sweaters and swim suites and shorts.

Once thing I keep telling myself to keep somewhat sane is that I can buy stuff once I get there. This is going to be hard for an avid over packer but I will get it done and hopefully get to bring mostly everything I want to

and in 3 weeks I will be saying hello from this beautiful beach city!
