Then Comes Monday

This weekend was spent celebrating a birthday and friendship
one of my best friends Katelyn turned 20 this past Friday
she was the last in our trio to hit her 20's
we planned a long time ago to go skiing this past weekend
but seeing as how the weather did not cooperate with us we just
decided to hang out in Asheville all weekend instead of wasting our money on skiing.
we has so much fun!!
we left Atlanta around 2 got in around 7 that evening
because we decided we were going to go and see this covered bridge historical site
and realized once we turned off to see it that it was about a 15 mile detour to it
but we went on anyways and saw the last covered bridge in South Carolina.
for K's birthday she wanted to eat sushi so we went to a Japanese restaurant
across from our hotel and ate sushi and hibachi
we let her open her presents that night
she got one of the mail shutters that are all over Pinterest and  some sugar scrub stuff
Saturday we went and ate breakfast at a little restaurant in downtown Asheville
and walked around the city a bit
after that we headed to the Biltmore house
we thought we could see it with out paying to go in but you can't
so we eventually decided to pay and go and see the house
(side note this is a place I've always wanted to go it was close to making my top 20 bucket list)
the house was absolutely incredible it looked like we were in a different world
we could not get over how huge the house was
it took us close to two and a half hours to walk through
it has 250 rooms in it and we only got to see about 45 rooms or so
it was such a cool place to see!!!
we were lame both nights and were back at the hotel and in bed my 10:30 both nights
we had such a fun time this weekend and I am so glad I got the time to spend with my HKH
I love those girls to pieces

now im on to a week fulll of test and quizes
hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!!

Craigslist Purchase

I made my first craigslist purchase on Monday
I finally got a dresser
after living out of duffel bags for the past 2 weeks
I was so excited to have found one that was in my budget
so Monday my friend Kelsey and I ventured off to pick up the dresser
after being kinda lost we finally found the place
we went in and looked at the dresser and I know that I wanted it
so we headed back home with a "new"dresser in tow
well we get back to my apartment and well lets just say we were struggling with
getting that thing up the stairs
it was a lot heavier than we though it would be
lucky there were two nice guys around that helped carry it up the stairs
well one we got it up and in that's where the little issue came in
I got the dresser into my room and that's when I realized how awful the thing smelled
when we went to look at neither Kelsey or I noticed it smelling bad
So I took all the draws out and put them on the balcony
thinking that would help the smell
well it didn't at all
that is when I realized that it was the whole dresser that smelled not just the inside of the draws
so I put the whole dresser out on the balcony
I pulled it back in today to see how it smelled and it is still bad
so now I'm trying to figure out what to do.
should I keep it and try to figure out a way to fix it?
or Just trash it?

If you know any tricks to get rid of the smell please let me know

Light at the End

so a lot of things have happened the past two weeks
the first week of school I meet with my adviser about classes and graduation dates
I knew I was behind at least a year but
when my adviser told me I wouldn't graduate until 2014
I immediately started to cry
I was not prepared for that answer
I had it planned in my head that I would graduate next may
so 2014 was a shocker
My adviser obviously saw how upset I was about this and she suggested a new plan for me
she told me about a program called interdisciplinary studies
she told me how I could get this degree and then go and get my masters in Health Promotions
and I would have the same job/title if I went that route
she sent me off with some papers about it and told me to go and do some research
I spent a few hours looking over my transcript and the classes for the program
and decided that this would be something good for me to do
I went and meet with the adviser for the program
and everything just feel into place
and the best thing of all was that I was going to get to graduate in December.

So now I am in the Social Science Interdisciplinary program
I am taking classes in sociology and communications
and I'm loving every minute of it
I feel like this is where I'm supposed to be
I still don't  know exactly what the future holds after I graduate
but I do know that God has a plan for my life
and the its a perfect plan
so I'm not going to worry or stress about it
I'm just going to enjoy this last year of college!

Isaiah 6:8

So school is back in full force only one week in
I already have quizzes and home work
but I wanted to write about Passion 2012 before it got away from me

so 2 weeks ago now I went to passion 2012
and if you don't know what it is
its basically AMAZING
its a conference for Jesus for college aged students
there is amazing speakers,
ineradicable worship leaders,
and 44,000 of your closest brothers and sisters in Christ

this year was so much different than last year
there was almost double the amount of people
and the set up of the even was entirely different
but it was still just as amazing
this year the main focus of the conference was
freedom
right now in the world there is 27 million slaves in the world
that more than there as ever been in the world
there were speakers who work trying to rescue women, children and men from slavery.
there was a short film made that told the testimony of four people
who were trapped in slavery but were able to escape.
I think the most heart wrenching part for me was when a lady from Atlanta
came up a told about slavery in Atlanta, my home
the place where I grew up is now the largest hub for slavery in the US
I was shocked and horrified that 20 minutes from my house there were little girls and women
being forced into prostitution and sex slavery.
the whole time all I could think about was my little Jenna
she is at the age where she could very well be out there and knowing that
made me scared and angry all at the same time
I would do everything in my power to rescue here if something happened
this conference bought awareness to everyone there
but with awareness there needs to be action
because without action there will be no change!!
Our first step of action at the conference was giving financially
the goal this year was one million dollars in 3 days
well we reached our one million mark the second day
and by the end of the conference we raised 3,066,000
all in the name of Jesus to help END slavery
and bring hope and a future to people all around the world!!

durring my time at passion God really spoke to my heart
the verse that continued to pop up for me was
Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the lord saying "Whom shall I send? and who will go for us?" And I said "Here am I. Send me!
I want this verse to be true of my life
I want to be courageous enough to say to the Lord
Send me, Use me in what ever way
so that is my verse for this year
It will be something that I am continually praying about and acting on
so I ask you to pray along with so that I have the courage to act
thanks so much and have a blessed day!

Monday Funday

{a}
so today was the start of the second week of school
only 15 more weeks to go!!
I can do this!
I had Civil War and Reconstruction class today
(an upper lever history class mind you)
you may remember me being a health promotions major
so why am I in an upper lever history class?
well my major has now changed
more on that topic later
but I really thing this is going to be an amazing semester
I am actually looking forward to going to class each day
and the best part my first class doesn't start till 11 every day
so that is the major plus for me!!

{b}
my parents came for a little visit this past weekend
me and my mom finished shopping for my apartment
and then Sunday we went downtown for lunch and to see some old fort
there headed home as I type

{c}
I just want to note that I absolutly love my new roommate
she is just so funny and there is seriously never
a dull moment up in our house
God really knew this was exactly where I need to live
this semester!!

{d}
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday
and remember to do something nice for someone today!

I'm linking up with Carissa at Lowercase Letters today

So Sorry

well needless to say its been a REALLY busy past few weeks
with Christmas, New Years, Passion and the start of school
I've hardly had time to breath these past few weeks
so I just wanted to apologize for the long absence
I moved into my first ever apartment last Sunday!!
Its been so fun!
I feel like such a big girl
I had to go and buy mattresses and furniture once I got here
thankfully I had the wonderful Kelsey to help me with that!!
but since moving in I've had no Cable or Internet
so I've basically been closed off from the world for the past week
and boy what a blessing it has been
I've actually gone to bed early,
had some quality bonding time with my new roommate,
and been able to just be here not all caught up in the world
its has been a much needed break
but hopefully by tomorrow we will be up and running with cable and internet
and I'll be back for the rest of the semester!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!

I am so excited for this new year and all that will come along with it!!
I'm starting out this new year with 44,000 of my
brothers and sisters in Christ
at the Passion conference
so for the next 4 days I will be digging deeper into the word
and worshiping our God
